Texas is a big state, therefore weather conditions can vary dramatically depending on location. The Eastern portion of Texas experiences very warm summers with high humidity, the central portion of the state has dry summers and very cold winters, and the remainder of the state is mostly a subtropical climate.
In general, the best time for statewide travel is late October-November and March-April. Texas summers are incredibility hot and winters can be bitterly cold. For the most part, these months avoid Texas's hottest and coldest temperatures and the heaviest rainfall.
